Firefox: Trivial User Interface Extensions in firefox on Sun, Oct 7. 2007
Firefox, as it comes be default, has several inane UI choices, so I'm going to list some extensions here that make it a
good deal saner:
- Stop-or-ReloadButton - This little extension merges the stop and reload button into one. Unwaste that space. [Local Site]
- Exit Button Firefox - and now that you've got extra space, how about an exit button? This is very useful if you use sessions, and multiple windows. If you try to close Firefox window-by-windows, the sessions will only remember the last window you close. You can either navigate to File/Exit each time, or just stick this on your toolbar somewhere and use it. [Local Site]
- Check All - Don't you love it when you have a list of one hundred checkboxes, and you need to check a group of fifty in the middle? If you needed all of them there's probably an option for that, but not the middle half, until now. This extension lets you hilight an area of the page, right click, and check or uncheck all the boxes. [Local Site]
- Add Bookmark Here - Browsing to the right place to add a bookmark is time consuming, and I can't
count how many times I've just added it to the root and had to move it later. This put 'Add Bookmark Here' at the bottom
of every single bookmark menu, which adds the current page to that menu.
[Local Site] - Smart Middle Click - Do you middle-click on links to get them to open in a new tab or window? This extension tries to make it where you can do that to Javascript links. It doesn't work 100% of the time, but it works in most common places, including Hotmail and Haloscan comments, and if it doesn't manage to detect the link, you're no worse off than when you started.
